The Design Story
bagori gaonBagori GaonBagori village lies close to the Aravalli hills, shaped by natural slopes and uneven land. The village follows this rhythm—homes rise and fall with the terrain, built one above the other. Ancient trees of banyan and babool stand across the village, marking time and continuity. Rajjo has spent her entire life here, weaving carpets in this very village. Over the years, she passed this craft to her daughter and daughters-in-law, ensuring the work continued within the family. This Manchaha is her offering to Bagori—its land, its people, and its inherited way of life. A colorful road winds into the rug, leading toward the village. Large trees stand as evidence of its age. At the top, two houses appear. The house on the left is Rajjo’s, solid and grounded, where the loom still stands. On the right is another house, lighter and slightly faded, woven by Vimla. She imagines her future there, believing that after marriage she will continue weaving, just as her mother did. This rug records a legacy, one passed quietly from hands to hands, rooted deeply in Bagori.
