The Design Story
jaana-anjaanaJaana-AnjaanaThis Manchaha centres on Saroj’s everyday routine. The middle is built from repeated diamonds, steady lines, and structured patterns, echoing her daily work on the land, seasonal cycles, and a life shaped by consistency and familiarity. Around this core, the rug begins to open up. Patterns loosen, directions shift, and lighter motifs like birds, floating shapes, and uneven forms appear. These belong to the unknown and the whimsical: the world beyond her fields, the things from her imagination. The rug quietly holds both—routine and curiosity—showing how Saroj remains grounded in what she knows, while leaving space for what lies beyond. She aptly named her Manchaha, "Jaana-Anjaana" (The Known and the Unknown).
