The Design Story
rangeele baadalRangeele BaadalIn the confined and stark environment of jail, the inmates are cut off from the vibrant life outside the high walls. Within these bounds, they inhabit a world entirely their own. Yet, one thing remains shared with the outside world: the sky above. This vast, ever-changing canvas became their muse in the creation of their Manchaha, aptly named “Rangeele Baadal”, meaning “Colorful clouds”. As they began to weave, they started noticing the subtle changes in the sky throughout the day. Monu, one of the weavers, reflected on the vastness of the sky, marveling at how God has created such an immense expanse, bigger than anything else, and gave us tiny eyes with the power to capture its entirety. As the carpet came to life, it reflected the essence of their experiences and hopes. Knowing that they still shared this piece of the world with those outside the walls filled them with a sense of connection. It became a symbol of their belief that they would reunite with the outside world once again.
